Description

The monument comprises a stone built dun or defended hilltop settlement, thought to date to the later prehistoric period. The dun occupies a prominent, steep-sided rocky spur in mature conifer woodland, at approximately 240m above sea level.

The oval-shaped drystone enclosure is aligned east to west over the natural spur and occupies a space measuring approximately 30m by 18m. The circuit of ruinous drystone rampart is obscured by vegetation, however, some stone coursing is evident on the inner and outer wall faces. A previously recorded entrance at its western side is now barely visible.

The scheduled area is circular and measures 70m in diameter, centred on the centre of the monument. It includes the remains described above and an area around within which evidence relating to the monument's construction, use and abandonment is expected to survive, as shown in red on the accompanying map.
